Professional Experience
Director of Digital Learning, Technology and Media
Gems World Academy, Switzerland
August 2013 - July 2017
Embracing inquiry and the philosophy of the International Baccalaureate, I am currently developing an innovative approach to embedding technology into our school landscape. With a vision to empower students to be the creator their own futures, I have established a culture of creativity establishing progressive workflows built on conceptual understanding, trans-disciplinary skills and learner profile attributes. Present initiatives include: developing social media channel in the classroom and school, leading a team of digital leaders to create a digital learning policy in line with Dr. Ruben Puentedura’ s SAMR model of technology transforming learning. Two highlights to date are; European Code Week, where all students participated in this collaborative maker space, gaining an insight into coding and computer science.
The City Rings Sound Art Project- collaboration with European schools to create, and share sounds from field recordings. http://thecityrings.org/regio/soundscapes/ The compositions led to the design of an atmospheric sound art installation, presented by 5th grade students.
I am a member of the GEMS Digital Strategy Hub and currently collaborating on an International Baccalaureate project to define the role of technology in IB schools.
